Chapter 133.2: Unlock and Add Request
The waiter came over with a kettle to refill the water. She
looked at the handsome Ren Yan, then at Chu Qianmiao, whose cheeks were
slightly flushed, and couldn't help but smile. "Miss, your boyfriend has
such a good temper. He dotes on you so much. Just forgive him."
Chu Qianmiao looked up at the waiter. "You don't know
how infuriating he is! Have you ever seen someone want to give their girlfriend
away?"
The waitress giggled and walked away with the kettle,
saying, "You two have such a great relationship."
Chu Qianmiao looked as if she was vomiting blood.
Ren Yan couldn't help himself and reached over to touch her
head.
He stroked her fur, like a cat stroking an angry cat,
soothing her.
Chu Qianmiao pushed his hand away and glared at him.
"Don't keep breaking the rules! I'm immune to you now." Despite
saying so, her anger had finally subsided.
Ren Yan explained, "But the agreement with Tan Shen has
a precondition. You have to agree to it. He can't force you. And he can't
betray you."
Chu Qianmiao ignored him, looking out the window.
Ren Yan reached out to grab the cup of hot chocolate in
front of her.
Chu Qianmiao pushed his hand away.
"What do you want?" she asked fiercely.
"I want to taste it," he said, looking at her.
"No." She looked fierce, like that cat in a rage.
"Then why did you attack me again?" she asked
fiercely.
After making the agreement with Tan Shen, Ren Yan tried to
control himself. He tried not to focus his energy on Chu Qianmiao.
But emotions, once out of control, are truly uncontrollable.
The more he tried to stop himself from provoking her, the more he couldn't
suppress the urge to see her, to hear her voice.
Days without her were gray. Only her presence could
transform the space around him into color.
During the departmental activities in the villa, he had
struggled. Should he stay there, should he talk to her more? Reason told him
no. He drove off. But for a moment, on the way, he thought of her smile and
decided to stay back at the villa tonight.
He turned the steering wheel and made a U-turn. But when he
returned to the villa, he hid in the shadows, in a corner, and saw Tan Shen and
her interacting intimately under the moonlight.
He saw Tan Shen suddenly pull her in for a kiss. His hand on
the steering wheel subconsciously tightened.
Watching them in the darkness, he told himself, persuaded
himself, that this was fine. Perhaps it was meant to be this way.
At this point, he was completely ready to let her go.
He thought Tan Shen had changed his mind and treated her
well. She and Tan Shen were getting along well. That was enough. This was a
happy ending for everyone.
Unexpectedly, everything took a different turn the day Li
Tang transferred to Litong.
Litong was holding a full-staff training session, and all
employees were required to return to the company from their project sites for
remote training.
The day after the training, Li Tang reported to Litong.
The same afternoon she reported, she invited Ren Yan to her
office.
She told him that she had asked a friend to buy her some
medicine for her grandmother.
Ren Yan thanked her and chatted with her for a moment. He
remarked that she looked unwell.
Li Tang told him that her former company had thrown her a
farewell party the night before, and it had been so lively that she hadn't
gotten enough rest.
Ren Yan thought for a moment and asked Li Tang, "Why
did you suddenly switch to Litong?"
Li Tang looked at him with a sharp gaze, unabashedly saying,
"I want to win over the person I want. I don't have any time to hesitate
or waste."
These were two very touching words, especially coming from a
beautiful woman.
But Ren Yan wasn't moved. He noticed a button missing from
Li Tang's sleeve.
Ren Yan stared at the missing button, his heart beating
wildly. He couldn't tell if he was angry or if, in the midst of his anger, a
glimmer of hope had been rekindled.
Thinking back to the farewell reception Li Tang had received
from his former colleagues at Eagle Capital, Tan Shen's quirks, and Li Tang's
missing button, it was easy to imagine what had happened last night.
After the farewell reception, Tan Shen and Li Tang spent the
night together again. It must have been at Tan Shen's house, since Li Tang
hadn't even managed to change into new clothes that wouldn't have the button
fall off.
It was a shame that, after what she'd experienced the
previous night, Li Tang could still say those sweet words to him today.
He was furious that Tan Shen had finally betrayed his
promise, betrayed Chu Qianmiao, and gotten involved with another woman.
But beneath his anger, a faint, inexplicable hope rekindled
within him. If Tan Shen had truly betrayed Chu Qianmiao, then he wouldn't have
to keep his promise to Tan Shen.
He had to confirm whether the betrayal had truly taken
place.
Ren Yan stood up from the sofa in Li Tang's office and told
her, "I have something to run." Before leaving, he added, "If
the person you just said you wanted to win over is me, I'm sorry, Li Tang, but
I'm telling you clearly, we're no longer lovers."
Li Tang, unconvinced, demanded his reason.
He glanced at her sleeve and told her, "You should know
the reason yourself."
With that, he walked off.
He had indeed gone out to run an errand that day.
His heart pounded the entire way. He didn't know what he was
expecting. Was Tan Shen truly betraying him, or was it all just a
misunderstanding?
He first delivered the medicine to his grandmother.
Grandma's memory has been failing in recent years, so she writes down all
important information in a notebook. This includes the combination to Tan
Shen's lock.
Ren Yan found the notebook and flipped to the combination
for Tan Shen's lock.
He drove to Tan Shen's house.
As he pressed the combination, he noticed his fingertips
trembling slightly. He entered the house like a thief.
He walked to Tan Shen's room, and a tank of lucky fish swam
toward him through the glass. He walked over to the tank, opened the wardrobe,
and pulled out a drawer.
His heart was pounding.
In the long, wide drawer were several small, open square
boxes. Each box contained buttons.
Each box was labeled with a person's initials.
His heartbeat grew faster and faster.
He deliberately ignored CQ's box and found T's.
There were more than two buttons inside. One of them was the
one Li Tang had lost from the dress she had worn today.
His heart skipped a beat, then settled.
It was Tan Shen who broke his promise first. He hadn't
treated Chu Qianmiao seriously and betrayed her, as he'd promised. He'd gotten
involved with Li Tang again.
Leaving Tan Shen's house, Ren Yan drove back to the company.
A tangle of thoughts raced through his mind the entire way.
While parking in the basement, he received a call from Qin
Qianyu. Qin Qianyu told him that Chu Qianmiao had thrown coffee at Xia Fengyong
because of his badmouthing.
Fearing she'd be in trouble, he rushed upstairs and
practically ran. Yes, he ended up running into Li Tong. That was almost a loss
of composure for him.
Later, he wondered, was there anyone else who would defend
him at all costs like that foolish girl? No one. Only her.
She could endure any insult, but she couldn't stand even the
slightest profanity or profanity from him.
He wondered who else would make him run like crazy the
moment he heard she was in danger. No one. Only her.
All his principles and convictions were shattered one by one
by her. All his composure and self-control were silently shattered by her. All
his desire for purity and abstinence was shattered when he met her.
Tan Shen hadn't kept his promise; he had betrayed Chu
Qianmiao.
So why should he keep that ridiculous agreement?
He remembered Li Tang's words: He had to fight for the
person he wanted, because there was no time to waste.
He decided not to hide anymore, not to back down anymore,
but to face his feelings for her head-on.
He figured if she could love him deeply enough, the gap
between them, between calling him Tan Shen and calling him Grandma, would
eventually be bridged.
Why should he keep pushing her away for Tan Shen's sake? He
had to live for himself.
Having made this decision, it was like releasing an
invisible shackle from his body.
He finally came to terms with it, figured it out, and made
up his mind. He realized that wanting to like her and get close to her was such
an exciting prospect.
Excited and happy.
The day after making his decision, Ren Yan video-called Lei
Zhenzi. (chapter 83)
He said to Lei Zhenzi, "I'm going to tell you something
now. Don't be too surprised."
He said, "You've been asking me why I've been staying
away from Chu Qianmiao even though I clearly like her. I'm telling you now,
it's because her ex-boyfriend is Tan Shen."
Lei Zhenzi was stunned for a full minute on the other end of
the line, then he let out a "F*ck!"
"F*ck, wait a minute. I need to process this." Lei
Zhenzi took a long time to digest it before saying, "F*ck, that makes
sense. Why were you suppressing your feelings? It makes sense." After a
pause, he asked, "But you're finally willing to tell me about this
relationship today. Have you made a decision?"
Ren Yan nodded. "Tan Shen didn't keep his promise. He's
not loyal to Chu Qianmiao. Since he can't make her happy like he said, I don't
want to suppress myself anymore. I won't give in anymore. I no longer care
about his past relationship with Chu Qianmiao. I only care about her
future."
After hearing Ren Yan's words, Lei Zhenzi's mouth remained
open. After a long pause, he pounded the bed and said, "F*ck, you should
have done this a long time ago."
"You'll know everything that happened after this. I'm
not hiding anything from you anymore," Ren Yan said. "Now, can you
forgive me?"
Chu Qianmiao sorted out the past and present.
She had always felt that Ren Yan's attitude towards her had
suddenly changed since the day Li Tang started working at Li Tong.
Before, he'd been distant and evasive, but now he'd been
wholeheartedly courting her.
She had always been a little puzzled as to what had caused
this sudden shift in his attitude towards her.
It turned out that he'd seen through Li Tang's button that
Tan Shen wasn't someone she could trust.
It was already completely dark outside. The rumbling of her
stomach reminded her that evening had already arrived.
She had sat there for the entire afternoon. Her mind was
filled with his stories, leaving her no room for thought.
Her phone rang. It was Gu Miaoyu, urging her to go home for
dinner.
When she said she'd be right back, she saw a hint of
disappointment in Ren Yan's eyes.
He must have wanted to invite her for dinner.
But not tonight. Her mind was so full that she couldn't give
him an answer.
Could she forgive him now?
She felt sorry for him; he was as miserable as a cabbage.
But she was still a little angry. He had given her to his
cousin, and only stepped forward after confirming that his cousin wasn't the
one she'd trusted.
What kind of substitute player did he think he was? And what
kind of emotionless object did he treat her as? When he gave her up, had he
even asked her about her wishes?
She was furious.
She couldn't declare her forgiveness today.
Chu Qianmiao stood up from the sofa and said to Ren Yan,
"Little Daogu asked me to come home for dinner."
Ren Yan stood up with her.
Outside, the rain was pouring down, and the ground was
soaked. Chu Qianmiao, wearing her suede high heels, stared at the rain-beaten
ground, unable to move.
Ren Yan asked her to wait while he borrowed an umbrella from
the cafe's receptionist and, in the pouring rain, walked to a nearby
supermarket to buy another.
Ren Yan returned the borrowed umbrella, walked back to the
cafe's entrance, and said to Chu Qianmiao, "Let's go."
Chu Qianmiao looked at the umbrella he had only bought,
looked up, and asked in confusion, "There are two of us, and there's only
one umbrella. You fight me, I fight you?"
Ren Yan pushed open the glass door of the cafe.
The wind and rain blew against Chu Qianmiao's face and body.
Ren Yan thrust the umbrella towards her.
She had just taken the umbrella when her vision swirled. Her
feet were already off the ground.
Recovering her composure, she realized she was already in
Ren Yan's arms.
She looked up at him. He lowered his head and said,
"You fight me."
Stupefied, she opened the umbrella and held it over their
heads. He held her in his arms, lifted his legs, and stepped forward, stepping
into the swirling water created by the rain.
She held her umbrella, leaning against his chest.
The rain and wind were both loud, and the raindrops pattered
against the umbrella.
Amidst the clamor, she could hear his heartbeat. Plop, plop,
it was almost like thunder.
She thought his expensive leather shoes must be worn out.
She asked him, "Why don't you buy two umbrellas so I
can walk?"
He stepped on the sound of his own heartbeat, plop, plop,
and replied, "I can't bear to let you wade through the water."
She thought to herself how rude she was, giving him this
easy opportunity to break the rules.
He waded through the flooded streets and carried her all the
way to his car.
After settling her down, he got in.
Chu Qianmiao fastened her seatbelt and turned to see Ren
Yan, completely soaked. Especially below the knees, his pants were so wet they
were clinging to his legs.
He dropped her off at her apartment. They were silent the
entire way.
But before getting out of the car, Ren Yan called her over.
He looked at her seriously, but also a little nervously, and
said, "Qianmiao, Tan Shen and I made that promise.
"I pushed you away, and it was my fault. You don't have
to forgive me so quickly. Punish me."
Chu Qianmiao looked at Ren Yan, her eyebrows raised
slightly. She wondered what else he was going to say.
"Before, you confessed your feelings to me, but I
rejected you. Later, I provoked you, but I never truly pursued you. This time, I’m
punishing myself by making myself pursue you properly. Don't agree to my
request so easily." "
Chu Qianmiao's eyes widened.
What kind of strange man is this? He's making such a
request. Don't agree to it easily.
Okay, I'll satisfy you.
Chu Qianmiao nodded.
"But if you agree, it's for life. You can't go back on
your word, okay?"
Chu Qianmiao paused in her habitual nodding.
She felt he'd broken the rules again.
Chu Qianmiao went upstairs. While eating with Gu Miaoyu, she
recounted her afternoon conversation with Ren Yan.
Gu Miaoyu sighed. "Oh my god, domineering CEO Ren Yan
is so bitter, you know? I just heard the background music of Erquan
Yingyue."
Gu Miaoyu shook her head. "He's a pitiful man,
actually. Shuishui, why don't you just forgive him? What's done is done. Let's
move on. There's probably no other man in this world who will treat you better
than he does."
Chu Qianmiao chuckled. "He said he'd pursue me
seriously this time, so I shouldn't agree to it so easily." "
"Gu Miaoyu nearly spit out her food. "What kind of
straight man is this to actually make such a request?"
"He also said that if I agreed, it would be for life,
and I couldn't go back on my word."
"Gu Miaoyu was choked up. "I take it back. Ren Yan
is such a genius at sweet talk!"
After calming down, Gu Miaoyu said seriously,
"Shuishui, I think this is a good idea. Your previous relationship was
filled with so many secrets and baggage, and your love was full of concerns and
not pure at all. And I think Ren Yan's love wasn't the right kind before."
"
"This is perfect. Let Ren Yan pursue you honestly and
sincerely, and let him learn how to love someone normally."
Just as Gu Miaoyu finished her words, Chu Qianmiao's phone
buzzed.
The caller ID showed Qin Qianyu. Chu Qianmiao quickly
answered the call.
Qianmiao, you should get to the office early tomorrow. That
bastard Kan Qingzhou is up to something again. He wants to ruin our Hanhai Home
Textiles acquisition project."
