Chapter 113.2: I Can't Say It Now

That evening, before leaving get off work, Ren Yan texted Chu Qianmiao, saying he wanted to take her to the movies. After the movie, they would each start their own business trip the next day.

It was only then that Chu Qianmiao realized she had never seen a movie with her boyfriend.

They had just entered the theater, before they could buy tickets, when she received a call from Tang Jie.

Tang Jie's voice was anxious. He said to Chu Qianmiao,

"Qian Miao, are you done with your company work? If possible, could you catch a late flight back?"

Chu Qian Miao hurriedly asked what had happened.

Tang Jie said, "Mr. Du was discharged from the hospital today. He called Liu Zheng this afternoon, and we all discussed Zhufeng Auto Parts acquiring Xiaolin Auto Parts. But things fell apart mid-way through, with Liu Zheng firmly disagreeing."

Chu Qianmiao was stunned and asked, "Why didn't he agree? This is a good thing."

Tang Jie said, "Liu Zheng said he and Lu Fenglin have different business philosophies and don't mesh well. He absolutely refused to work with him. He even slammed the table and yelled at Mr. Du, 'It's either me or Lu Fenglin, it's either Lu Fenglin or me. You choose one of us.'"

Chu Qianmiao: ""

How could she hear such a thick chorus of love, hate, and vengeance between three men in their late 40s?

Tang Jie continued, "Lu Fenglin will be at the company tomorrow for a meeting. I'm worried Liu Zheng and him will clash, and it'll be a mess. You need to come back and make the decision."

Chu Qianmiao said, "Okay, I'll be back right away."

After hanging up the phone, she apologized to Ren Yan, "Senior, something's happened on the project. I have to rush back overnight to make it in time for the meeting tomorrow."

Ren Yan's eyes gleamed with regret, but he said nothing. He walked her home to pack her luggage and then to the airport.

Before going through security, he pulled her into a hug.

Chu Qianmiao felt her heart pounding again from that embrace. It was even more frantic than when they were on the black sheets.

Ren Yan hugged her and said, "Get back to the project and do what you can. If the problem can't be solved, don't force it. I'll take care of everything."

Chu Qianmiao listened with her head tilted back, her heart pounding.

She thought he was truly a good man worth relying on. But she still wanted to try to solve the problem on her own first.

The next day's meeting was so intense that Chu Qianmiao almost asked Hou Lin to go out and buy her blood pressure medication.

Liu Zheng and Lu Fenglin were at loggerheads, arguing furiously.

Liu Zheng said Lu Fenglin knew nothing and was nothing more than a rough-and-tumble person. Any business dealing with him would inevitably fail. If he hadn't tricked Du Xiaofeng into opening a joint company with him in the north, there wouldn't be this mess.

Lu Fenglin said that Liu Zheng, aside from some technical skills, was capable of pretending to be an intellectual and had the worst temper of anyone. He spent his days tying Du Xiaofeng down. Du Xiaofeng was an independent individual, not his private property. He could open a company with whomever he wanted without being bullied and nagged by Liu Zheng. He was simply bored.

Du Xiaofeng was caught in the middle, his palms and backs brimming with tenderness, torn between the two.

Hou Lin, stunned, leaned against Chu Qianmiao and whispered, "Boss, if Liu Zheng weren't married and Lu Fenglin wasn't wearing a wedding ring, I'd really think this was a pure love triangle."

Chu Qianmiao glanced at Hou Lin, silencing her.

Just as Liu Zheng and Lu Fenglin were about to leap onto the conference table and tear into each other, Chu Qianmiao intervened.

"Mr. Liu, Mr. Lu, please calm down and listen to me for a moment," Chu Qianmiao said, raising her voice, temporarily halting the exchange.

Du Xiaofeng also shouted, "Calm down, both of you! You're all brothers. Why is this happening? Hey, let's all hear what Ms. Chu has to say first, okay?"

The two men paused their fight.

Chu Qianmiao first asked Du Xiaofeng, "Mr. Du, what will you do if Mr. Liu insists on not agreeing to the acquisition?"

Du Xiaofeng looked embarrassed. "Well, there's nothing I can do. Old Liu is my brother, and Old Lu is also my brother."

Chu Qianmiao understood; Du Xiaofeng couldn't persuade Liu Zheng.

She asked Liu Zheng again, "Mr. Liu, you're absolutely determined not to agree to Zhufeng acquiring Xiaolin Auto Parts, right?"

Liu Zheng angrily replied, "Of course I don't agree."

Lu Fenglin couldn't help but respond, "You're so good, who would want to buy you out?"

Liu Zheng and Lu Fenglin argued again. The peace lasted less than a minute.

Chu Qianmiao felt a headache.

She ignored them and went straight to Du Xiaofeng, saying, "Mr. Du, if this is the case, if you still want to take Zhufeng Auto Parts public, there's only one solution left: transfer your Xiaolin Auto Parts shares to an unrelated third party."

Du Xiaofeng later decided to transfer his Xiaolin Auto Parts shares to an unrelated third party.

This unrelated third party was Zhang Yuanting, a good friend of both Du Xiaofeng and Liu Zheng.

Before accepting the share transfer, Zhang Yuanting even tried to dissuade Liu Zheng, "Old Liu, why are you doing this? Lu Fenglin's actually a good guy, why are you picking on him?"

Liu Zheng scolded him, telling him to shut up. The moment he brought up Lu Fenglin, he lost all his intellectual grace.

Zhang Yuanting refused to shut up, even smilingly admonishing him, "You're just jealous. You're afraid that Old Du's relationship with Lu Fenglin will be stronger than yours."

Liu Zheng told him to get out.

Zhang Yuanting then went to Du Xiaofeng's office and signed the share transfer agreement with him.

At this point, Du Xiaofeng and Liu Zheng became shareholders of Zhufeng Auto Parts. Zhang Yuanting and Lu Fenglin were shareholders of Xiaolin Auto Parts. Du Xiaofeng and Xiaolin Auto Parts no longer had any connection.

At this point, the issue of intra-industry competition should have been resolved. The project continued to move forward smoothly.

But Chu Qianmiao still felt something was off.

A few days after the share transfer was completed, Chu Qianmiao received a call from the Litong front desk.

They told her there was a package for her, delivered in a briefcase.

Chu Qianmiao asked who the sender was, but the receptionist said they couldn't see clearly. After a moment's thought, Chu Qianmiao asked them to send the package to Zhufeng Auto Parts.

After the package arrived, she opened it and pulled out several postcards.

They were of famous landscapes from across the ocean.

She flipped the postcards over and saw Tan Shen's handwriting on the back: "Qianmiao, the package is too expensive, so you won't accept it. But you can accept these postcards. These are every beautiful place I visited while working on a project abroad. Every time I go there, I think, 'This place is so beautiful! I want to bring you with me someday.'"

Chu Qianmiao looked at the postcards, feeling a sense of unease.

She texted Tan Shen, "I received the postcard. It's very nice. Thank you. But, Shen, you're quite busy, so don't mail it to me anymore."

A moment later, Tan Shen replied with a message, "Qian Miao, are you going to take away even my right to be friends now?"

Chu Qian Miao put down her phone and sighed helplessly.

She stood by the window to get some fresh air.

Looking out at the lush greenery, her thoughts suddenly shifted. She suddenly realized what was so strange about Du Xiaofeng's share transfer.

She quickly called Wang Jun, "Lawyer Wang, I think we need to verify whether Mr. Du has truly transferred his shares to Zhang Yuanting, and not just publicly transferred them while actually asking Zhang Yuanting to hold them on his behalf."

Wang Jun immediately said, "Yes, we need to verify. If it's really proxy holding, there will be a big scandal later."

The author has something to say: This Zhufeng Auto Parts dub will be finished soon. Then, the conflict will gradually intensify.
