Chapter 109.2: Under the Spring Moonlight
After the weekend, Chu Qianmiao, along with Hou Lin, Lu
Zhonger, and Wang Sian, flew south on a business trip to the Zhufeng Auto Parts
project site. Tang Jie and Wang Jun, both accountants and lawyers, also brought
their own people.
Chu Qianmiao felt that this parting with Ren Yan seemed
different from previous ones. Ren Yan was reserved and reluctant to show his
emotions easily, so in previous partings, she seemed to express more
reluctance.
But this time, it was the other way around.
They had spent Saturday night and Sunday day together. On
Sunday night, she had clearly agreed with Ren Yan that they would go home
separately, she would pack her travel luggage, and he would go back to prepare
for the next day's work.
But after dinner, Ren Yan changed his mind. He used both
persuasion and coercion to drive her to her apartment, where he told her to go
upstairs to pack her luggage. Then he drove her and her luggage back to the
apartment. Of course, he had s*x with her again.
The next morning, he drove her to the airport. She refused
to let him get out of the car, fearing they might be seen by someone she knew.
He held her hand and rubbed it for a long time in the parking lot, refusing to
let her get out.
Seeing the seconds ticking away, she had no choice but to
leave. He squeezed her palm and said, "Don't wear V-necks anymore."
Then he let her out of the car. She dragged her luggage a
long way and turned back to see his car still standing. He was still sitting
there, watching her.
Her heart suddenly felt like cotton candy, soft and fluffy.
He, who had always been so aloof and reserved, was now
expressing his affection for her in his own unique way. She felt quite sweet
inside.
Arriving at the project site, several teams and executives
from the company's major shareholders held a meeting.
Chu Qianmiao met Du Xiaofeng. As Tang Jie had said, he
looked like a fierce man. He was nearly 1.9 meters tall, with a sturdy build,
and his features were regular and fierce. According to Tang Jie's preliminary
intelligence, he was 38 years old.
As soon as they met, Hou Lin huddled behind Chu Qianmiao and
whispered, "Boss, this Mr. Du looks like a gangster! Boss, I'm a little
worried about their business. Is it definitely legitimate?"
Chu Qianmiao had researched Zhufeng Auto Parts' business and
financials beforehand and knew it was a legitimate operation. But looking at Du
Xiaofeng's imposing and powerful appearance, she understood Hou Lin's
trepidation.
But she still whispered to Hou Lin, "Don't judge a book
by its cover."
Du Xiaofeng spoke in a deep, deep voice. He glanced at the
brokerage representatives and asked, somewhat incredulously, "Is your boss
not here?"
Chu Qianmiao stepped forward and smiled, "Hello, Mr.
Du. I'm their boss."
Although young, she possessed an extraordinary demeanor, a
confident and calm expression.
Du Xiaofeng stared at her for a moment, his gaze
scrutinizing.
Tang Jie stepped forward and said to Du Xiaofeng with a
smile, "Mr. Du, don't underestimate our beautiful insurance agent. Her
skills are top-notch in investment banking."
Du Xiaofeng then extended his right hand to Chu Qianmiao and
said, "Hello, Du Xiaofeng."
Chu Qianmiao shook her hand and said, "Hello, Mr. Du,
Chu Qianmiao."
Du Xiaofeng shook her hand briefly and then released it. He
wasn't like some business owners Chu Qianmiao had met who held her hand for a
long time. This fact made a good impression on her. This seemingly fierce man
actually acted respectably. However, he still had doubts about her abilities.
Besides Du Xiaofeng, another major shareholder of Zhufeng
Auto Parts was Liu Zheng, a year younger than Du Xiaofeng. He was tall and
thin, and appeared to be quiet and gentle. But during the meeting, Chu Qianmiao
noticed that Liu Zheng's every word was to the point.
At the beginning of the meeting, Chu Qianmiao knew that Du
Xiaofeng was still looking at her with scrutiny. But after she clearly laid out
the company's subsequent IPO arrangements, current challenges, and subsequent
rectification plans, Chu Qianmiao noticed a change in Du Xiaofeng's gaze.
For the second half of the meeting, Du Xiaofeng, Liu Zheng,
and other senior executives peppered her with questions about the IPO. Chu
Qianmiao provided precise answers to each of their questions, each
well-reasoned and supported by references to recent cases and the latest
regulations and policies.
After the Q&A session concluded, Chu Qianmiao noticed
that the scrutiny Du Xiaofeng had cast on her had vanished.
After the meeting, as they went to lunch, Du Xiaofeng's
expression seemed to have softened by a factor of three.
At the table, Hou Lin whispered to Chu Qianmiao, "Mr.
Du, if he wasn't so aggressive, he'd look quite handsome."
After spending time together, everyone realized that Du
Xiaofeng was actually quite charismatic. He had thick eyebrows, large eyes, and
deep features, which, combined with his tough physique, gave him a dashing and
unrestrained demeanor, a uniquely masculine air of elegance. Even among women,
he was a uniquely charming figure.
He was happy to chat with the agency and treat everyone to
dinner. As they chatted, Chu Qianmiao discovered that Du Xiaofeng was
knowledgeable in everything from astronomy to geography, able to engage in a
witty conversation, and skilled in jade and stringing beads. Chu Qianmiao
thought that if Ren Yan were to work on this project, they could have a long
conversation, comparing notes to see who had the most extensive knowledge.
Du Xiaofeng was also very generous.
The day before, Chu Qianmiao had come to his office for a
meeting and complimented the beautiful golden nanmu chair in his room. He had
the chair brought to the due diligence office that same day.
That evening, he invited the agency to dinner, and Chu
Qianmiao casually complimented him on the beautiful stringing of his bracelets,
saying how each bead shone. He immediately took the bracelet off and sincerely
offered it to her. Chu Qianmiao absolutely wouldn't dare accept it.
In the end, Chu Qianmiao didn't dare to boast about
anything. She was afraid Du Xiaofeng would give her a gift the moment she
opened her mouth.
She was a genius at flattery, and this was the first time
she'd encountered someone who made her afraid to use that skill.
Later, back at the hotel, she spoke on the phone with Ren
Yan. Before she even mentioned the golden nanmu chair and bracelet, Ren Yan
already knew about it.
It turned out that Lu Zhonger and Wang Sian had been posting
messages in the group chat, making Du Xiaofeng a legend on the project.
Ren Yan spoke to her for a long time on the phone, and
before hanging up, he suddenly asked, "Is there anything you particularly
want?"
Chu Qianmiao was startled. "Senior, why do you ask
that?" she asked softly.
Ren Yan's voice sounded faint, "I realize I haven't
given you a gift yet."
In the days that followed, Chu Qianmiao led everyone in
conducting preliminary due diligence on Zhufeng Auto Parts and developing a
restructuring plan.
On the company side, matters related to the listing were
primarily handled by Liu Zheng, another major shareholder. Du Xiaofeng
privately told Chu Qianmiao, "Liu Zheng has been my good friend for many
years. He handles internal company matters, while I oversee the overall
situation. Going forward, please contact him directly with any issues. If he's
dissatisfied with anything, please contact me quietly and I'll help you resolve
it."
Chu Qianmiao quickly thanked Du Xiaofeng for this thoughtful
gesture, which both saved their brother's reputation and benefited their
agency.
She assigned Hou Lin to liaise with various departments of
the company according to the due diligence checklist and collect the original
documents. Hou Lin was young, lively, and quick-witted, and she quickly bonded
with the company's staff. Her popularity boosted her, but her work efficiency
remained unchanged.
Chu Qianmiao suddenly thought of her past self.
She found an opportunity, called Hou Lin aside, and
admonished her earnestly, "Hou Lin, you're always so cheerful and popular,
but how efficient are you when you're communicating with the company about
materials? Do they respect you? Are they afraid of you? Do they think it's okay
to give you the materials two days late? After all, you have a good
relationship."
Hou Lin lowered her head at her question.
She patted Hou Lin's shoulder and spoke earnestly, "You
know what? When you start a project, it's better to establish your credibility
than to just get lost.
"Being well-liked is more important. That way, others
will respect you and take your instructions seriously."
Hou Lin looked up at her eagerly. "Leader, I was wrong.
I think you're right."
Chu Qianmiao crossed her arms and nodded at her. "It's
good that you know you're wrong. Go get the materials quickly."
Hou Lin agreed, offering sincere flattery. "Leader, you
were so queen when you just lectured me. I think what you said is absolutely
right. You're my life mentor."
Chu Qianmiao made her laugh. "I didn't say that. My
leader back then said that." "
Hou Lin's eyes widened. "Is that your boss, Mr.
Ren?"
Chu Qianmiao raised an eyebrow, indicating that you were
right.
Hou Lin hunched her shoulders. "While Mr. Ren's words
are true, and he's tall and handsome, he's always cold and strict. We interns
are all afraid of him."
Chu Qianmiao winked at her. "Actually, I'm afraid of
him, too."
Hou Lin looked at her and laughed along.
Chu Qianmiao patted her shoulder. "Get to work! Go get
the materials. Pack them up and send them to my email tonight." "
Hou Lin replied crisply, "Okay, President Chu."
On her way back to the office, Chu Qianmiao thought,
unknowingly, she'd finally been teaching other young people what Ren Yan had
taught her. Time is truly marvelous, she thought, as so many things cycle
through time. And the feeling of passing on something valuable from generation
to generation truly brings a sense of fulfillment.
Tomorrow is Saturday, no overtime. She wondered what she
should do.
Her phone suddenly vibrated in her hand.
She swiped open the screen and saw a message.
