Chapter 86.2: Unprecedented Tenderness
Back at the hotel, Chu Qianmiao
took a nap. Waking up, she realized the others had returned from the hospital,
so she went to return everyone's sportswear to their original owners.
When she returned Qin Qianyu's
clothes, he slapped his forehead and said, "Oh, I thought I'd lost them.
Haha, thank you, Qianmiao, you make me feel like I've found another piece of
clothing for free."
Chu Qianmiao: "She felt that
Qin Qianyu, a finance background, was worthy of his financial background. He
was very good at calculating."
When she returned the clothes to
Liu Lifeng, he looked disgusted, "Why didn't you wash them before
returning them?"
Chu Qianmiao almost wanted to beat
him to death.
I owe you what you deserve.
Looking at her gritted teeth, Liu
Lifeng actually smiled. It was the first time she'd seen him smile; she'd
always thought he couldn't.
When returning Cui Xijie's clothes,
she politely inquired about his injury. Cui Xijie chuckled, saying, "It's
nothing serious, just a superficial wound. President Ren has already allowed
him to work in the hotel."
Chu Qianmiao also smiled, urging
him to rest well and try to recover quickly.
In the end, she still had one piece
of clothing left. It belonged to Ren Yan. Chu Qianmiao was stunned, wondering,
Ren Yan was there, why didn't he just take the clothes himself?
She went to return the sports
jacket.
Ren Yan was video chatting with Lei
Zhenzi when, for some reason, he suddenly thrust his phone screen towards her,
"Say hello."
Chu Qianmiao: "..."
What's going on?
But she still smiled and greeted
Lei Zhenzi. Lei Zhenzi's peach blossoms blossomed even through the screen. With
his peach-shaped eyes curved, he called out "Qianmiao" in a
flirtatious manner, asking, "What do you want from Mr. Ren?"
Chu Qianmiao raised the clothes in
her hand and said, "I'm here to return them to Mr. Ren."
Lei Zhenzi's eyes lit up
immediately. "Oh, you've returned the clothes! That's a special
relationship. These are usually overnight relationships."
Chu Qianmiao didn't grasp the
meaning of this for a moment. Ren Yan had already put away his phone, taken the
clothes, said, "Go back," and quickly closed the door. As he did so,
she heard Ren Yan scold Lei Zhenzi, "Shut up and don't say anything dirty
to her."
The door slammed shut in front of
her.
With a bang, her face flushed. She
understood what Lei Zhenzi meant. It was the bond between a man who spent the
night with a woman and left his clothes there overnight.
Chu Qianmiao almost wanted to kneel
down before Lei Zhenzi; he was truly too vulgar.
After delivering the clothes, she
returned to her room and spread out her books, intending to study. The June
exam was drawing near, looming, but she still had so much to learn.
Even before she even started
planning the exam, she knew that the insurance agent exam would require a lot
of reading. The scope of the exam was vast, requiring not only a thorough
understanding of legal interpretations but also at least an intermediate level
of financial accounting. Once she began studying, she realized the actual
amount of material required was even greater than the rumors suggested.
She figured it was no wonder Liu
Lifeng had failed the exam twice; it was truly a difficult test.
Thinking of Ren Yan's June
test-taking mission—passing it or failing—she felt like a knife was hanging
over her head, ready to strike and kill her if she didn't work hard.
She was absorbed in her studies
when her phone vibrated on her desk.
She didn't bother to check the
caller ID, her mind still racing through the contents of her book. She casually
answered the call and said "hello," her eyes still fixed on the book.
But after she finished reading
another entire paragraph, there was still silence on the receiver.
She came to her senses and realized
she was on the phone, waiting for the other party to speak.
She momentarily pulled her
attention away from the book, lifted the phone from her ear, and glanced at it.
Only then did she realize the call was from Tan Shen.
She took a deep breath, put the
phone back to her ear, and called out, "Ah Shen, is there something wrong?
Why aren't you talking?"
Tan Shen chuckled softly.
"Nothing. I don't know what to say. I just find it satisfying to hear your
breathing, so I'm just going to say nothing."
In that instant, Chu Qianmiao felt
a tinge of pity for Tan Shen.
Why would he, why would he let
himself sink so low in a failed relationship? Wouldn't it be better to be like
her? Even if her confession failed, she should stand tall, be herself, and live
a good life.
She sighed and told Tan Shen,
"Ah Shen, besides listening to my breathing, do you have anything else to
do? I'm actually a little busy."
She wasn't afraid to be
hard-hearted at this moment. Being soft-hearted at this moment is truly
terrifying, harming not only others but also themselves. Unable to bear the
brunt of the pain, they leave the other person with a lingering attachment, yet
unable to respond. Ultimately, it ends up being a frustrating mess for both
parties.
Tan Shen smiled again. After a deep
laugh, he raised his voice slightly.
"Qian Miao," he said, his
tone surprisingly serious. "You said you wouldn't date until you pass the
insurance agency exam and have your own office. Does that still count?"
Chu Qian Miao didn't know what Tan
Shen was going to do, but she replied, "Yes, it counts."
"Okay," Tan Shen said.
"You have to remember what you said. If you don't date me until you pass
the insurance agency exam and have your own office, then you can't date anyone
else either. If you do, I'll be your first choice. Qian Miao, I'll behave
myself during this time and try to win you back."
Chu Qian Miao frowned and replied
irrelevantly, "Ah Shen, I have to work overtime." She didn't want to
respond to such an unreasonable request.
After hanging up, she wondered when
Tan Shen would stop nagging her.
On Monday morning, while sorting
out issues regarding Li Ya's related-party transactions, Chu Qian Miao
discovered a problem.
From the latest information sent by
the purchasing department, she discovered that Li Ya once held a stake in a
company called Xinghen Materials. The stake was less than 50%.
Xinghen Materials, in turn, was a
supplier to Li Ya Manufacturing. Li Ya purchased from Xinghen Materials
annually, and the amount of purchases from Xinghen Materials increased year by
year, as did its share of total purchases.
Thus, the relationship between Li
Ya Manufacturing and Xinghen Materials constituted ongoing related-party
transactions, and these were difficult to resolve.
Chu Qianmiao knew that
related-party transactions could affect a company's independence and were
therefore a key focus for regulatory agencies. If the related-party transaction
issue wasn't properly addressed, the proposed listed company would likely fail
the Issuance Examination Committee's review, potentially leading to the
company's IPO failure.
This was no small issue, and Chu
Qianmiao immediately went to report the matter to Ren Yan, drafting the report.
The author has something
to say to Ren Yan: I'm so damn gentle, but you damn well don't even look up.
I'm so worried.
