Chapter 47.3: I Miss You So Much
At the next day's intermediary
coordination meeting, Ren Yan and the heads of various agencies discussed
various matters related to the coaching and acceptance process. Before the
meeting ended, he urged everyone to prepare the necessary materials as quickly
as possible.
As the meeting adjourned, everyone
headed out together. Qin Qianyu said, "My wife and her bestie are
traveling to Hong Kong this week. I'm on my own this rare weekend, so why don't
we get together for some barbecue and drinks?"
He mentioned this to Chu Qianmiao,
Sun Yi, and the others. Knowing that Ren Yan wouldn't attend social events,
they'd assumed he wouldn't be included.
Ren Yan was the first to speak up:
"If you guys want some barbecue and beer, Lawyer Chu knows a great
place."
Chu Qianmiao was startled by this
and looked up at Ren Yan.
He was looking at her.
Qin Qianyu asked excitedly,
"Boss, are you coming with us?"
Ren Yan turned to look at Qin
Qianyu: "Of course." He then looked back at Chu Qianmiao: "Then
let's all go. I'll treat."
Chu Qianmiao was stunned by his
gaze.
Was he... making up for the meal
he'd left midway?
"Sorry, guys," Chu
Qianmiao said to Qin Qianyu with an apologetic smile. "I made an
appointment with a friend this weekend. He just got back from abroad, and I had
to welcome him!"
She turned her gaze to Ren Yan's
face. She seemed to catch a glimpse of disappointment and regret in his
impassive expression.
Okay, she thought. It's a nice day
today. A bit hot, but I should be able to sleep well tonight.
Over the weekend, Chu Qianmiao
messaged Tan Shen early in the morning, asking: "Can I bring my childhood
friend over for dinner later?"
Tan Shen peppered him with
questions.
Why?
Didn't we agree to just be alone
together?
Are you adding someone at the last
minute to prevent me from confessing or something?

Chu Qianmiao was annoyed. She
replied directly: "My childhood friend is really pretty."
Tan Shen's reply was more direct:
"Bring her along."
Chu Qianmiao thought, haha, a man.
She'd taken Gu Miaoyu out because
she'd discovered she'd been in a tormented relationship with Shao Yuan, and she
didn't feel comfortable leaving a woman tormented by love and pain alone at
home.
Gu Miaoyu had chosen the place: the
small barbecue restaurant where they'd always gone for a drink and some solace.

already waiting outside.

Gu Miaoyu spotted a tall, handsome young man standing outside the shop. Gu
Miaoyu exclaimed, "Ah!" and asked, "Is that your ex?"
Chu Qianmiao looked at the man
standing at the door and nodded.
Gu Miaoyu sighed, "He's quite
good-looking!"
Chu Qianmiao looked at Tan Shen and
agreed with Gu Miaoyu's assessment. He was indeed quite handsome. In just jeans
and a T-shirt, he stood there, standing by the doorway, a striking sight. His
unstinting smile—when a little girl walked by and looked at him, he'd smile
back, making her blush and run away—was a testament to his former schoolboy
nickname.
But while his looks were
impressive, he was also... too talkative.
Tan Shen turned his head and
spotted Chu Qianmiao, immediately charging towards her. Reaching her, he braked
suddenly and embraced her.
His height and long legs caused Chu
Qianmiao's neck to arch back, nearly choking her to death.
"My dear Miao, I've missed you
so much!" Tan Shen said as he embraced her.
Gu Miaoyu, watching from the side,
was stunned, thinking she'd seen Uncle Feng Gong at the Spring Festival Gala.
Chu Qianmiao struggled to pull Tan
Shen away, then unsatisfied, kicked him.
"You're trying to strangle
me?!"
Tan Shen enjoyed the kick with a
look of pure enjoyment, and Gu Miaoyu, watching from the side, felt a wave of
nausea.
Someone on the other side called
out, "Qian Miao?"
Chu Qianmiao turned to look and
said, "Hey, Brother Qin, what a coincidence?"
It was Qin Qianyu, Lu Zhonger, and
Wang Sian.
"We asked Mr. Ren for the
address of that delicious barbecue restaurant you recommended, and we came all
the way here for a meal!" Qin Qianyu explained awkwardly.
Then he turned to look at Tan Shen
and Gu Miaoyu. "Who are these two?"
Chu Qianmiao introduced them,
"My childhood friend and my friend." She then hinted that Tan Shen
should behave himself in front of her colleagues and not talk too much.
But before she could even glance at
Tan Shen, she saw him transformed. With a mature and steady hand, he extended
his right hand towards Qin Qianyu. Even his voice, as he introduced himself,
was no longer frivolous, but rather a perfectly low voice: "Hello, Tan
Shen. I just returned to China. We might be in the same profession in the
future. Please take care of me!"
Chu Qianmiao, standing nearby, was
almost stunned. She had never seen Tan Shen so mature and steady. For a moment,
she felt a little dazed, as if he were someone she didn't know.
When Qin Qianyu heard that he had
returned from abroad, and then took in Tan Shen's height and features, he
immediately said, "Oh," as if he understood. "It's you! Hello,
Qin Qianyu!" He extended his hand and shook Tan Shen's.
Tan Shen's eyes lit up, and he
immediately asked, "Did Qian Miao mention me?"

The two groups entered the house
one after another.
Qin Qianyu deliberately walked

After entering the house, the two
groups sat down separately, each eating their own food.

and Tan Shen sat down, Chu Qianmiao's phone dinged. It was a WeChat
notification.
She glanced at her phone, nearly
fuming.
She hadn't expected Qin Qianyu, the
gossipy guy, to not only witness Tan Shen hugging her so vigorously, but also
take a photo with his phone. Not only that, he even posted it to the group
chat. The group he'd created on Ren Yan's birthday, a group within Ren Yan's
group.
After posting the photo, he tagged
Sun Yi, telling him: "Come quickly! Qianmiao's boyfriend is here too. Come
and see!"
Chu Qianmiao was so angry that she
stormed into Qin Qianyu's private room and shouted, "Brother Qin, we are breaking up?!"
Qin Qianyu looked down at his phone
and quickly withdrew the message, saying, "Oh, sorry, sorry, I sent it to
the wrong group. We have a group for four, and I clicked it by mistake!"
Chu Qianmiao glared at Qin Qianyu
until he deleted the photo before returning to his seat. A moment later, a
message from Ren Yan popped up in the group Qin Qianyu had withdrawn the
message from.
"Come down and drink less.
Come to Litong this afternoon to work overtime."
Chu Qianmiao thought, deserved it!
Then another message popped up.
"Lawyer Chu, come along
too."
... Ren Yan, you bastard!
