Chapter 28.3: Kindness and Sharpness

Chu Qianmiao felt wronged. She told everyone that she had indeed told Sui Huan that the industrial base was government-backed, and therefore she didn't need to worry too much about the contract with the industrial base management committee, but she had never said that, so the factory's property ownership certificate wasn't needed.

Sui Huan blushed and said, "But that's what you meant..."

Chu Qianmiao stared at Sui Huan, speechless with anger. So, in this whole blame-shifting situation, she was the one taking the blame. How ridiculous.

Dong Lan's phone rang, apparently an important call, so she went out to answer it.

Everyone took a short break, either getting a glass of water or going to the bathroom.

Sui Huan, fearing Chu Qianmiao's capture, immediately ran out of the meeting room. Chu Qianmiao watched the door swing behind her, feeling chilled.

But she calmed herself down and said to Zhang Teng, "Lawyer Zhang, I didn't do anything wrong in this matter. Don't worry."

Zhang Teng nodded at her.

She stood up again and walked over to Ren Yan, who was sitting across the long conference table.

Qin Qianyu immediately stood up to make room for her.

Chu Qianmiao sat down next to Ren Yan and called him "Mr. Ren."

Ren Yan, who had been looking down at the documents, seemed to have just noticed she was next to him. He turned to look at her and raised an eyebrow.

His eyebrows were saying, "Look, your kindness is backfiring on you."

Then he used his eyebrows to ask her if there was anything wrong.

Chu Qianmiao said calmly, "Mr. Ren, you were in the office when Sui Huan came to see me that day. Can you prove that I didn't tell her or lead her to believe that renting factory space from a government-controlled industrial base didn't require proof of property ownership?"

Ren Yan's face was expressionless. He glanced at her and spoke. His voice was extremely flat, "Why should I give you proof?"

Chu Qianmiao was stunned.

Chu Qianmiao had never expected Ren Yan to answer her like that.

But her surprise wasn't over yet. Ren Yan continued, "You need a project manager like me to verify such a trivial matter? What about your work ability? Besides, we're not in the same organization."

Chu Qianmiao looked at him, stood up without another word, and said, "Boss, I was there that day. Can I help Qianmiao explain this to President Dong later? She was kind-hearted and helped Sui Huan so much, but now she's being singled out as the scapegoat by the very people she helped. It's truly unfair!"

Ren Yan turned and glanced at him. "Don't say anything."

Qin Qianyu fell silent, but his face was filled with reluctance.

Ren Yan sighed silently and, as an exception, gave Qin Qianyu an explanation.

"Have you ever heard a saying? Your kindness must have a certain edge. That way you don't overindulge others and can protect yourself."

"If she can't even solve this problem today, what's the point of her kindness? It's just a weapon for others to exploit and hurt her."

Ren Yan said, then turned back to reading the materials.

Qin Qianyu was a bit shocked.

It was the first time he'd seen Ren Yan harbor such deep, well-intentioned intentions towards someone.

Chu Qianmiao sat back down. Her escape route was blocked. She couldn't panic, couldn't be disappointed, and couldn't be sad. This wasn't the right time.

The most crucial thing right now was to uncover the truth—the problems in this matter had nothing to do with her—and to prove her professional competence—how to solve this problem. Furthermore, she needed to let Dong Lan know Sui Huan's true work ability and level, and her irresponsible and shirking attitude.

She didn't look at Ren Yan. She admitted that she might thrive under pressure, but now, under pressure, her thoughts were gradually clearing, her mind becoming more and more clear. She felt calmer and calmer.

She picked out two contracts, handed them to Zhang Teng, and spoke to him for a few words. Zhang Teng nodded.

She said a few more words, and Zhang Teng gave her an "OK" sign, whispering, "Your approach is absolutely fine. It's a beautiful fix."

Dong Lan returned from her call, and so did Sui Huan. Guilty, she dared not look in her direction.

The meeting continued.
