Chu Qianmiao stifled a laugh in the back seat.
"Lawyer Chu."
Suddenly called by Ren Yan, Chu Qianmiao looked up, her eyes
meeting his in the rearview mirror.
"Tell Qin Qianyu what to say at this moment."
"???" Chu Qianmiao paused for a moment, then
launched into action. "Mr. Ren, I don't want to praise you for being so
handsome right now. You don't need to exaggerate; everyone knows it. Today, I
want to say how touching you are. You're such a prominent figure, yet you're
sending us, the little guys, home one by one. That's not something every
managing director can do! So, Mr. Ren, you are this!" She raised a
thumbs-up and thrust it forward through the space between the two front seats.
Qin Qianyu, sitting in the passenger seat, was stunned.
"Did you hear that?" Ren Yan raised his lips to
offer Qin Qianyu a compliment. "How do you flatter someone? Do you
know?"
Qin Qianyu turned and applauded Chu Qianmiao in the back
seat. "Qianmiao, I'm convinced! You're a textbook flatterer. You'll have a
promising future! When you become rich and powerful, don't forget me!"
Chu Qianmiao said modestly, "Of course, of
course!"
The night receded rapidly outside the car window, the trees
lining the street blending into a rustling, hazy shadow. Equally spaced
streetlights passed by the black Mercedes, casting the interior in a shimmering
eclipse of light and darkness.
Looking in the rearview mirror, Ren Yan's face flickered
between brightness and darkness. He seemed caught in a constantly shifting
stream of light. The light chased him, smudged across his smooth forehead, his
dark brows, and his long eyelashes. There was also his high nose, his fair
face, his thin lips with a slight upturned corner. Between light and dark,
clarity and haziness, it was unclear whether it was he who made the night so
thrilling, or whether it was the night that made him so bewitching.
Chu Qianmiao cast her gaze out the window, watching the
shadows of the trees race towards the back of the car. She smiled and thought,
"Whoever's sitting up front might be a monster, even more handsome than he
was in school."
Another ray of light streamed into the car, and the rearview
mirror reflected the scene in the back seat. The girl behind her turned her
head to look out the window, her eyes shining, a smile on her lips. Her
straight black hair was tucked behind her ears and cascaded over her shoulders,
her profile softly contoured by the light and darkness of the night. She was
indeed a beautiful girl, even more beautiful than she knew herself to be.

The next morning, Chu Qianmiao woke up with her hair
disheveled and found, as expected, dark circles under her eyes. Last night, Ren
Yan first dropped her off at home, then went to see Qin Qianyu off. Gu Miaoyu
was already asleep when she got home, but she couldn't fall asleep, even after
drinking three bags of milk. Every time she closed her eyes, the image of
herself in a Mercedes-Benz, the shadows of trees rustling behind her, kept
flashing through her mind.
Since she couldn't sleep, she simply grabbed her tablet and
started watching a random TV show. To be safe, she deliberately chose one
without female characters.
—They're all men, I'm having a lingering dream, so why are
you coming to me?!
That was her plan.
The result...
She let her guard down. This all-male drama even featured
romance! One guy would constantly push another guy against the wall, the sink,
anything that would cover his back, then gaze at him affectionately for a
moment before pulling him into a hug and kissing...
As Chu Qianmiao tossed the tablet aside, she felt doomed.
She was probably going to have another dream.
As expected, her l*stful dream returned.
In the dream, she had changed her gender and was the man who
always pushed others. The man she always pushed had the face of Ren Yan...
She sat in bed, wondering if last night was a l*stful dream
or a nightmare?
In the daytime, at the due diligence office, Qin Qianyu
smiled at the sight of her dark circles. "Did your boss make you work
overtime yesterday, too? Or did my boss make you work overtime?"
Chu Qianmiao wondered, does your boss coming into my dream
to bother me count as making me work overtime?
She turned around and suddenly saw Ren Yan. She nearly died,
wondering, why is he here again...
A sudden image of her, transformed into a man in her dream,
pushing Ren Yan against the wall flashed through her mind.
She took a sharp step back.
Ren Yan: “…”
Ignoring the look Ren Yan gave her when he looked at her, a
look of doubt mixed with a hint of questioning and slight disdain, she patted
her neck in panic.
Luckily, fortunately, there was no Adam's apple. Now that
she was awake, she wouldn't rush up and push him!!
Her mind was swirling, she ran outside and washed her face
with cold water, clearing her mind.
When she returned, she saw Yu Yue approaching.
He was saying to Ren Yan, "Mr. Ren, I spoke with Mr.
Zhou overnight. He told me to talk to those three. Tell them that although they
now know the patents actually belong to the company, considering their
long-standing friendship, he's still willing to grant them equity according to
the original plan, as long as they don't make excessive demands. This matter
will be over, and we can all continue to work together as good partners."
After hearing Yu Yue's words, Chu Qianmiao immediately gave
Zhou Hanhai a thumbs-up.
What a generous man!
After Yu Yue left to interview the three, Chu Qianmiao asked
Qin Qianyu, "Brother Qin, who among these three do you think is most
receptive to favors, who is receptive to power, and who is insensitive to
both?"
Qin Qianyu thought for a moment and replied, "I think
there are three possibilities for each of them."
Chu Qianmiao felt that his words were tantamount to saying
nothing.
Qin Qianyu looked at her and swung his mouth to the
side—"Ask him, and see what he says." Chu Qianmiao followed his swung
mouth and asked Ren Yan, "Mr. Ren, who do you think is the easiest to deal
with among these three, and who is the hardest to deal with?"
Ren Yan leaned back in his leather chair, looked at her, and
raised his lips slightly. "So, what do you think?"
