Chapter 166: A Happy Ending~Part 12

After nearly six hours of this pain, at around 9 p.m., the obstetrician came over and felt her cervix. He finally nodded in agreement, saying, "The cervix is almost dilated. You can prepare to go to the delivery room."

Su Yicheng took her hand and tried to go in, but the nurse blocked his way. Qin Yun rushed out and saw the group huddled at the delivery room door. She hurriedly asked, "Are they in? Already in?"

Lin Xiaofen pulled her to sit down beside her and said, "She just got in. I'm afraid she won't be able to come that quickly."

Qin Yun raised the thermos in her hand. It was filled with chicken soup she'd just made at home, which had kept her late. She said, "I wanted Anran to have a few sips before she goes in. That way, she'll have an easier time and more strength when the baby comes."

"It's okay. If she really runs out of energy later, we'll have the nurse inside bring it in for Ranran," Lin Xiaofen said.

"Yes, yes, yes, we'll bring it in for her when the time comes," Qin Yun said repeatedly.

Su Yicheng was completely restless, pacing back and forth at the delivery room door, his hands clenched tightly. Through the door, he could still hear Anran's cries of pain. Each cry pierced his heart, and he felt a pang of pain. But there was nothing he could do, so he could only stand there anxiously.

Lin Xiaofen watched him like this, worried for Anran, yet also amused. She said, "Ah Cheng, please sit for a while. It won't be that fast. You're pacing back and forth like this, it's making us dizzy."

Qin Yun also laughed, saying, "I've raised my son for over thirty years, and this is the first time I've seen him like this."

Su Yicheng couldn't hear them anymore. He was only thinking about the people inside. Those three were the most important people in his life! How could he sit there without worrying and anxious?

The wait was always so long. Finally, before Su Yicheng knew how long he had been waiting, a loud cry echoed from the delivery room. Everyone outside was overjoyed. Lin Xiaofen and Qin Yun held hands and called out to each other, "It's born! It's born! I hear the baby crying so loudly!"

"Yes, yes, it's born! It's born!"

Su Yicheng stood nervously at the door, almost unsure where to put his hands.

The delivery room door was pushed open by a young nurse, who emerged holding a tiny, wrinkled, red baby in her arms. The baby was crying loudly.

The nurse, smiling through her mask, said to them, "Congratulations! It's a little boy." She looked at Su Yicheng and said, "This is the daddy, right? Come, hold the baby. It's a handsome little boy."

Su Yicheng looked at the red, wrinkled little thing in her arms, but hesitated to take it.

Behind them, Qin Yun and Lin Xiaofen both smiled. Lin Xiaofen hurried forward to take the baby from the nurse's arms, looking at it with delight. The rosy little creature in her arms was incredibly adorable.

Qin Yun, on the other hand, took the chicken soup she had been holding and handed it to the nurse, saying, "Nurse, please give this to my daughter-in-law later. I'm worried she won't have the strength."

"Okay," the nurse took it and returned to the delivery room.

Lin Xiaofen, holding the baby, followed the nurses who arrived later to clean it. Mrs. Zhang and Qin Yun followed to help.

Su Yicheng was still a little dazed, standing there in a daze. He hadn't recovered from the shock he had just experienced.

Gu Hengwen smiled as he stepped forward, patted his shoulder, and said with an understanding smile, "I was like that when Ranran was born, too scared to even hold her."

Su Yicheng took a moment to come back to his senses. He looked at Gu Hengwen and scratched his head sheepishly, suddenly remembering the nurse's words, "Congratulations, it's a little boy."

He murmured, stunned, "Why aren't they girls?" Didn't they say they were twin girls?

Su Yicheng remained completely unresponsive to this question. He was the only one who had insisted they were twin girls; no one else had ever given a definitive answer!

Gu Hengwen smiled, patted his shoulder, and said, "Next one, maybe it'll be a girl."

Su Yicheng regained consciousness when he heard Anran's cries of pain echoing from the delivery room again. His mind was pulled back, and he no longer had time to ponder why it wasn't a girl. His heart was gripped once again, a stark contrast to the joy he'd felt upon learning An Ran was pregnant with twins. He couldn't help but wonder, "If only it were just one, wouldn't it be twins?" If it weren't twins, An Ran would have been out by now, why would she have to endure this suffering again?

Thankfully, this child didn't torment his mother for too long. An hour after his older brother, he finally burst forth from his mother's warm womb with a resounding cry. Interestingly, although only an hour later than his older brother, he was born a full day later, at exactly 12:01 AM the following morning.

Hearing the cries from inside, Su Yicheng's eyes flushed with excitement, and he almost wanted to push open the delivery room door and head inside. Just as the nurse, holding the baby, was about to come out to announce the good news, a man quickly ran past her and into the delivery room, unable to stop him.

An Ran was drenched in sweat, her hair plastered to her forehead. She lay there, exhausted from exerting herself. Su Yicheng stepped forward, grasped her hand tightly, bent down to kiss her forehead, and whispered in her ear, "Honey, you're so brave. Thank you!"

An Ran raised her eyes wearily. Seeing the man before her, she twitched her lips weakly, and a faint voice escaped her, "I'm so tired."

Tightly grasping her hand and bringing it to his lips for a kiss, Su Yicheng promised, "Go to sleep. I'm by your side, always."

Hearing this, An Ran nodded slightly, a faint smile on her lips. She closed her eyes and fell asleep peacefully.

When An Ran woke up again, it was already the next morning. The room was quiet. Just as she was about to raise her hand, she found it firmly held. Turning her head, she saw Su Yicheng asleep on the edge of the bed. A slight smile played on her lips, knowing he must have not slept well the previous night. While she was struggling inside, he must have been working hard with her outside.

Qin Yun pushed the door open and saw An Ran awake. A smile of joy spread across her face. She hurried in and whispered, "An Ran, you're awake!"

After a good night's sleep, she felt much better than she had just given birth, though her smile still looked a little weak.

Qin Yun's movement also startled Su Yicheng, who had been sleeping on the edge of the bed. Looking up, he saw An Ran's smiling face and forced a smile of his own. "Awake."

An Ran nodded calmly, "Yeah."

Suddenly, with a "Pa!", a loud cry erupted from the baby's bed. Qin Yun hurried forward, picked up the child, and gently patted him, saying, "Oh, he's probably hungry and wants to eat."

Before Qin Yun could even soothe the one in her arms, another little one in the bed also burst into tears. Qin Yun hurriedly called Su Yicheng over to pick up the child. However, Su Yicheng hesitated in front of the bed for a long time, and he didn't even reach out to lift the child from the bed.

"Pick up the child!" Qin Yun urged. "He's your son. You're so distressed that he's crying like this!"

As if making a big decision, Su Yicheng finally reached out and slowly lifted the soft, tiny creature from the bed. His gesture was clumsy, but he was extremely careful.

An Ran had never seen the child before. She had lost all her strength after giving birth. Now waking up, she looked at her precious child, each one in their arms, and couldn't help but say, "Let me, let me see the child too."

Qin Yun finally realized what was happening and nodded repeatedly. She carried the child towards her, placing it next to her bed and saying, "Come, let Mommy see."

Strangely enough, the child seemed to sense it. Although his eyes weren't open, he stopped crying just by lying next to An Ran.

An Ran looked at the little angel lying beside her. This was the baby she had been carrying in her belly for over nine months. She found him beautiful and adorable no matter how she looked at him. He was tiny now, with a tiny nose and a tiny mouth, but from that tiny mouth, he could produce such a resounding voice. It was magical and incredible to think about it.

Suddenly, a thought struck her. She looked up at Qin Yun and Su Yicheng and asked, "Is it a boy or a girl?"

Hearing this, Qin Yun burst into laughter. Meanwhile, Su Yicheng's expression darkened. He stopped smiling and teasing the little one in his arms. Instead, his eyes grew stern, a resentful glare.

Qin Yun, naturally observing his reaction, deliberately provoked him, saying, "Let Ah Cheng tell you."

An Ran looked at Su Yicheng probingly, and seeing his expression, a hint of understanding crept in.

"Ah Cheng, tell me, is it a son or a daughter? An Ran is staring," Qin Yun urged, reaching out to tug at him.

Closing his eyes, Su Yicheng finally said, somewhat glumly, "They're all boys!" With that, he thrust the child into Qin Yun's hands, somewhat angrily, but still with the same cautious gesture.

An Ran, lying on the bed, looked at his sullen and sulky expression and couldn't help but burst out laughing. "Hehe..." She thought he was just too adorable at that moment.

Qin Yun also burst into laughter and complained to An Ran, "You have no idea how strange this kid's expression was yesterday when he found out they were both boys. He even glared at my grandchildren for quite a while!" How could her precious grandchildren be glared at by anyone, not even their father? Look, as their grandmother, she'd avenged him. Seeing Su Yicheng's expression at that moment, she felt quite satisfied just thinking about it.

An Ran laughed too. She could imagine the scene back then. She knew all too well how much he wanted a daughter. When she was pregnant, he'd insisted it was a girl, buying all the clothes for girls. Even when Lin Li said she was carrying a boy, he'd childishly gotten angry and even decided on a nickname: Yiyi Yaya. But fate had it all wrong; twins, both boys, would truly be a source of frustration for him for a long time.
