Chapter 166: A Happy Ending~Part 9
When she woke up the next day, Su Yicheng was gone. An Ran
didn't care, assuming he had gone to work. She rubbed her eyes, got up from the
bed, yawned, and went into the bathroom to wash up. When she came out, she felt
hungry, so she went straight to the kitchen. She guessed Su Yicheng must have
made breakfast for her and placed it on the counter, with a piece of paper
underneath for her to heat up before eating.
An Ran's guess turned out to be correct. Su Yicheng had
indeed already prepared breakfast on the kitchen counter, and there was indeed
a piece of paper underneath the sandwich. However, she'd misjudged the note's
contents. This time, it wasn't asking her to heat up her breakfast before
eating. And today's note seemed rather long, like a monologue...
One day, over eight months ago, I met a woman in a cafe. She
seemed to be on a blind date, and she acted seriously. But the way she clutched
her bag under the table told me she wasn't really going there willingly, or at
least seemed a bit impatient.
Later, I ran into her three more times, and she seemed to be
on a blind date every time. Perhaps that's how our fate began. The fourth time
I met her, she mistook me for her blind date. I tried to explain, but her
previous blind dates had clearly worn out her patience. She was incredibly
direct and asked me if I wanted to marry her. I was a little startled at the
time, as I'd never experienced anything like this before. But when she
mistakenly thought I had no intention of leaving and got up to leave, I suddenly
didn't want to let her go. I thought she might make a good wife.
We got married, not out of love, but simply because we were
right for each other. But she was someone who easily fell in love. When I
finally came to my senses, I realized that everything about her had touched my
heart. Her tears ached, her sadness rubbed off on me, her joy brought me joy.
Everything about her seemed to slowly seep into my life, into my very being. I
thought I couldn't fall in love anymore, but falling in love with her was
surprisingly easy. It was incredibly simple.
I owe her a promise, even a confession. If she sees this
note, I hope she'll eat the breakfast on the counter first, then go back to her
room and open the closet. If she agrees to give me the chance to make her a
promise, then please open the closet door while wearing the clothes in it.
Su Yicheng.
An Ran put the note down, somewhat bewildered. What promise?
What confession? She glanced at the breakfast sandwich, hesitated for a moment,
and ultimately didn't eat breakfast first, heading back to her room.
Standing in front of the closet, An Ran's heart suddenly
began to beat faster. She felt inexplicably nervous. She took a deep breath,
swallowed, and slowly reached out to grasp the closet door. She opened it with
her eyes closed. After a moment, she slowly opened them. Then, in disbelief,
she covered her mouth with her hand, her eyes wide open. "Oh my God!"
An Ran couldn't believe her eyes.
Covering her mouth and shaking her head, she muttered,
"How could it be, how could it be... How could it be here?!"
Inside the closet was nothing but the wedding dress An Ran
had seen hanging in the window of the New York bridal shop. The entire front
was designed as a spreading flower. The waist wasn't cinched in, but rather
loose, and the skirt was shorter in front and longer in the back. This dress
not only concealed her bulging belly but also accentuated her slender legs,
making it easier to walk without the problem of long wedding dresses.
After a long while, her excitement finally subsided a
little. She stepped forward to remove the wedding dress, but as she did so, a
piece of paper fell from it. She placed the dress on the bed and, puzzled,
picked it up. Upon reading the words on it, she couldn't hold back her tears.
In fact, it simply said, "Put it on me, and let me make
you a promise." ’
An Ran covered her mouth, sobbing uncontrollably. Although
no one could see, she clutched her wedding dress tightly, unable to control her
tears.
There were knocks on the door. Thinking it was Su Yicheng,
she thought nothing of it and ran to the door, wedding dress in hand. She
didn't even bother to wipe the tears from her face. She hurriedly opened the
door and was about to speak when she saw clearly that the people standing at
the door weren't Su Yicheng, but Lin Li and Su Yijiao. Both were wearing pale
pink dresses, their faces meticulously painted.
"Sister-in-law!" Su Yijiao called out cheerfully,
her clear voice particularly endearing.
Lin Li smiled at her, "An Zi!"
"You, you guys..." An Ran stared at them in
amazement, somewhat confused as to why they were there!
"Oh, sister-in-law, we can't wait any longer. We've
been waiting for you at the door for ages. We just couldn't wait any longer, so
we just knocked," Su Yijiao said casually as she took An Ran's hand and
walked into the house. Looking at the wedding dress in her hands, she couldn't
help but exclaim, "Hey, sister-in-law, why haven't you changed yet?"
Lin Li also noticed and took An Ran's hand, trying to pull
her into the house. As they walked, she said, "Come on, let's change her
quickly. She also needs to put on makeup. It's getting late now, and the
wedding car should be here soon."
"Yes, yes, yes," Su Yijiao nodded repeatedly in
agreement. She reached out to take the dress from An Ran's hand, and holding An
Ran's other hand, she walked into the house.
An Ran had no idea what was going on. She looked at Lin Li,
who was holding an eyebrow pencil, then at Su Yijiao, who was holding a powder
puff, and asked, "Can you tell me what's going on today?"
The two glanced at each other and smiled. Lin Li looked at
her and asked, "Just tell me, are you willing to wear this wedding dress
for Su Yicheng?"
An Ran nodded affirmatively. She was willing, there was no
doubt about that.
"That's fine," Su Yijiao said with a smile.
"As long as you're willing to wear this dress for my brother, leave the
rest to us."
"I—" An Ran started to say something, but was
interrupted by Lin Li.
"Okay, stop talking. We really don't have much
time," Lin Li said, leaning forward and drawing on her eyebrows with an
eyebrow pencil.
"Well, we have to hurry. They just called to ask if
we're going over," Su Yijiao said, preparing to apply powder to An Ran's
face.
Even if An Ran was dumb and stupid, she still managed to
come to her senses and understand the promise Su Yicheng made on those two
pieces of paper: he wanted to give her a wedding!
When Lin Li wiped her tears with a napkin, An Ran realized
she had been crying again. She wiped away the tears, looked at them, and shook
her head, asking, "Where is he?" She wanted to see him, hug him, and
thank him so much.
"You'll see him soon," Lin Li said with a smile.
As a friend, she was actually very happy for An Ran, happy that she had found
someone who loved her so much.
An Ran didn't ask any more questions, but simply nodded
firmly and sat upright, allowing them to continue to play with her face.
Unlike a typical, formal wedding, the groom didn't come to
pick up the bride.
When An Ran finished her makeup and went downstairs with Lin
Li and Su Yijiao, Secretary Zheng was already waiting downstairs. Seeing them
come down, he hurriedly opened the door for them, but Su Yicheng hadn't shown
up.
When Secretary Zheng drove An Ran to the wedding venue, Gu
Hengwen and Lin Xiaofen had already arrived. Lin Xiaofen looked very well
today, but because of her surgery, she wore a hat, which made her look even
younger than before.
An Ran wore the wedding dress that had originally been
displayed in a New York City window. It had been modified so that even on An
Ran, her belly was barely visible, completely hidden beneath the hem. Holding a
lavender bouquet, she smiled as she walked towards her parents. Looking at
them, she was a little excited, a bit coquettish as she said, "You, you
all colluded with Su Yicheng to deceive me."
Lin Xiaofen stepped forward and looked at her daughter in
her wedding dress. Suddenly, she felt a surge of emotion. She was speechless at
the moment, and could only nod repeatedly, "Okay, okay..." She kept
saying "Okay," and her eyes began to moisten slightly.
An Ran smiled, stepped forward, hugged Lin Xiaofen, and
whispered in her ear, "Mom, I'm getting married."
Lin Xiaofen smiled back, her eyes red and tearful. She
reached out and hugged her daughter tightly, nodding vigorously,
"Yes!"
Gu Hengwen looked at the mother and daughter hugging, his
eyes also moist. He stepped forward and hugged the two most important women in
his life tightly.
Lin Li and Su Yijiao, standing nearby, smiled at each other,
happy for them.
Lin Li accompanied An Ran and Gu Hengwen in the bridal
lounge, talking, while Su Yijiao said she needed to go out and check on the
situation.
From the lounge area, one could see the entire wedding
venue: an open-air, rough lawn, now filled with chairs. A red carpet stretched
all the way to the emcee's desk. Flower stands flanked the carpet. At the other
end of the carpet, connecting to the emcee's desk, was a large arched gate.
Entering through the arched gate seemed to lead one into an unexpected
fairytale world.
Just as the group was happily chatting, Lin Li's phone rang.
It was Su Yijiao, saying it was almost time for the ceremony outside.
An Ran nervously grasped Lin Xiaofen's hand, her smile now
faltering.
Lin Li observed all this and bluntly teased her,
"You're an old married couple, with a baby on the way, and you're still so
shy and nervous!"
An Ran blushed slightly, but her wedding dress made her look
even more beautiful.
Lin Xiaofen reached out and patted her hand, soothing her,
"It's okay, don't be afraid."
An Ran nodded. Of course, her nervousness made the smile on
her face look a little unnatural.
Outside, the wedding march began. From the window, she could
see Su Yicheng standing at the emcee's podium, dressed in a black tuxedo. From
a distance, she couldn't discern his expression. She wondered if he was just as
nervous as she was, his palms sweating.
Gu Hengwen stepped forward, took An Ran's hand from Lin
Xiaofen, and, holding it tightly, asked her to hold onto him. He smiled and
said, "Let's go."
Holding her father's hand tightly, An Ran nodded,
"Yes."
Lin Li had just opened the door when a cute little flower
girl was already standing outside, smiling at An Ran. Looking at An Ran, the
adorable little girl couldn't help but exclaim, "What a beautiful
bride!"
An Ran turned to look at her father, then smiled happily.
The guests were already seated. Su Yicheng stood at one end
of the red carpet, his eyes fixed on the other end. His hands clasped tightly
at his sides, revealing his current emotions.
He had never imagined himself so nervous, so nervous he
didn't even know what the emcee was saying. He stared straight ahead, oblivious
to the clamor around him. It wasn't until someone in a white wedding dress
emerged from the rest room, holding a bouquet of flowers, and smiled at him
that a smile finally broke out on his once-stiff face.
Anran, holding her father's hand, felt her nervousness relax
upon seeing Su Yicheng standing on the other side of the red carpet. She felt
unexpectedly calm. As long as she stared at him, it felt as if the world was
just the two of them.
"Bang!" The streamers swooped as An Ran stepped
through the flower gate. The fluttering confetti and ribbons blurred her
vision, yet also brought her back to her senses. All the guests fixed their
gazes on her, applauding enthusiastically.
The smile on her face was no longer stiff, but now a natural
one. Holding her father's hand, she walked straight towards the man standing in
front of her, staring at her. This time, she wanted to tell him those three
words.
Su Yicheng felt that the arched flower gate, barely 30
meters long, now seemed incredibly far away. It felt like he had waited for a
whole century. Finally, someone placed her hand in his. Holding her hand, Su
Yicheng stared at her intently. She was so beautiful today, so beautiful that
he was speechless. Staring at her rosy red lips, Su Yicheng felt a strong
desire to kiss her.
So when everyone gasped in surprise, Su Yicheng finally
realized he wasn't just thinking about it, he was actually doing it.
Pressing his lips against hers, looking at her eyes, still a
little too wide to react, he raised his lips with a charming smile and
whispered, "Close your eyes."
Coming to his senses, An Ran placed her hand on his waist,
smiled faintly, and closed her eyes, ignoring the exclamations of the crowd
around them as she concentrated on kissing him.
After a while, Su Yicheng finally let her go. His smile
widened as he looked at her lips, which had shimmered from his kiss.
The emcee on stage jokingly said, "It seems there's no
need for all the complicated procedures. The bride and groom can't wait any
longer. Don't you think so?"
"Yes!" someone echoed from the audience.
Then everyone erupted in laughter, the atmosphere was
lively.
An Ran's face flushed red at the laughter.
Su Yicheng, on the other hand, didn't seem to care about the
teasing around him. He looked at An Ran with a deep expression.
"Since the bride and groom can't wait any longer, why
don't we invite them up?" the MC asked loudly.
I don't know who started it, but everyone below exclaimed,
"Carry them up, carry them up, carry them up..."
Su Yicheng was quite happy with this request and bent down
to pick An Ran up. However, An Ran, somewhat worried, stopped him, shaking her
head and saying, "It's heavy!" She was no longer the same as before,
and she was pregnant with two babies!
Su Yicheng simply smiled as he lifted An Ran horizontally,
then spun her around in his arms several times. An Ran clung to his neck
tightly, letting out a startled, "Ah!"
After spinning her several times, Su Yicheng whispered in
her ear, "No matter how heavy it is, I can carry it!"
The guests who had been seated were no longer able to sit
still, standing up and clapping enthusiastically. Some in the crowd even
exclaimed, "Brilliant!" Su Yicheng.
He carried An Ran to the emcee's podium, then gently lowered
her down, holding her hand tightly again. A large LED screen, held out to the
two of them, displayed photos from their previous trip together. Most of them
were casual, and An Ran had never even seen them before.
The wedding planner passed the microphone to each of them,
and the emcee spoke again, offering harmless banter and well wishes, but
drawing laughter from the audience.
"Today, with so many of us witnessing, let's have the
groom make a heartfelt confession to his bride," the emcee said, winking
at the audience. "Everyone, do you want one?"
"Yes, this is a must!" Someone in the audience
echoed, their emotions seemingly high.
Su Yicheng raised his hand for silence, then turned to look
at An Ran, his eyes filled with deep emotion.
An Ran was a little nervous; her hand, held by him, was
slightly sweaty, and her heart was pounding in her chest.
Looking into her eyes, Su Yicheng said affectionately,
"Anran, thank you for wearing this wedding dress for me today. I may not
be romantic enough, and I may not even have enough time to be with you
normally, but allow me to make a promise to you today, in front of everyone. I
promise that I will always hold you in my heart, that I will never let go of
your hand, and that when we grow old, I will still love you as much as I do
now. So, hold my hand and walk through every spring, summer, autumn, and winter
with me, okay?"
Anran looked at him, feeling strangely moved. Her eyes
flushed, and she couldn't hide the smile on her lips. She nodded firmly as she
watched him.
Su Yicheng smiled back, took her hand, and brought it to his
lips, kissing it. Then he slowly pulled out the ring he had prepared from his
pocket. He took her hand and slowly put it on her. Then he took another ring
from his pocket, placed it in her palm, and said, "Put it on me."
An Ran nodded, took the ring, and slowly put it on his
finger.
The audience erupted in applause, and someone took the
opportunity to cheer, "Kiss, kiss, kiss..."
The emcee on stage also spoke up, "To accommodate the
audience's request, the bride and groom will do it alone. We don't want a kiss,
just a 10-second kiss. Don't you agree?"
"Yes!" the audience chorused almost unanimously.
An Ran blushed and turned to look at Su Yicheng shyly.
Su Yicheng, unfazed, stepped forward, cupped An Ran's cheek,
and kissed her, drawing cheers from the audience.
The emcee nearby joined in the chorus, saying, "Let's
all count down. If you're short on time, it won't count."
The crowd counted in unison, "10, 9, 8, 7... 2,
1."
The count had finished, and it was slower than normal, at a
pace of a glass. However, the newlyweds on stage hadn't separated yet,
embracing and kissing each other, deeply absorbed and focused.
When the kiss ended and Su Yicheng released An Ran, the
crowd erupted in laughter. The emcee also teased them, saying, "It seems
our bride and groom think 10 seconds is too short. How about we give them
another one? Let's be more humane this time, 5 minutes. What do you
think?"
"Okay!" someone shouted.
An Ran was embarrassed. Her face flushed red as a tomato,
and she pinched Su Yicheng with a resentful pinch.
