Chapter 166: A Happy Ending~Part 5

"Woo-woo—" A horn blared from the distant river. The last night ferry departed from Jiangcheng's harbor, heading for Qingcheng across the river. The ferry sliced through the calm surface, creating ripples of water.

He stood there for an unknown amount of time before Zhou Han finally turned around again. The tears on his face had already been washed away by the river breeze. He looked at Su Yicheng and said, "Let's go." Then he walked straight to Su Yicheng's car, opened the door, and got in.

After a moment's pause, Su Yicheng also walked around the front of the car and got in. Without asking, he started the car and drove him home. When the car stopped at an upscale villa complex, Zhou Han thanked him a little uncomfortably, then opened the door and started to leave. Su Yicheng sat in the car, watching his back. Just as he was about to enter the residential complex, he suddenly opened the door, got out, and shouted, "Zhou Han!"

Hearing the voice, Zhou Han turned around in surprise, looking at him in confusion.

Su Yicheng closed the car door, walked towards him, and punched him hard on the shoulder. Then he said with a smile, "Your skills are still as good as before. That punch made the corner of my mouth still numb."

Zhou Han was stunned for a moment, then reacted. With a smile on his face, he punched him back on the shoulder and said, "You didn't back down either. You hit the corner of my eye hard too!"

The two laughed, tacitly bumped fists, and then hugged each other.

Su Yicheng patted him on the back a few times, then whispered in his ear, "We'll still be good brothers!"

Zhou Han responded by patting him on the back a few times and saying, "Yeah, we'll still be good brothers!"

An Ran pushed the door open and entered. Mrs. Zhang was sitting by the bed, feeding Lin Xiaofen breakfast. Lin Xiaofen was completely blind, unable to see even the blurry images.

The surgery was scheduled for next Monday. They had been undergoing various tests for the past two days. Before arriving, they had thought they could have surgery right away, but after the tests, they realized it wasn't that easy. The situation was more complicated than they had imagined. The tumor was located so far away that it affected many blood vessels. If they weren't careful, it would directly touch a blood vessel, causing heavy bleeding during the operation, making the operation 50% more difficult.

After several days of consultation with specialists, some recommended against surgery. While she would lose her sight, at least her life would be saved.

After hearing the experts' advice, An Ran considered not having surgery. She simply couldn't bear the risk. No matter what became of her mother, being alive was the best thing.

But Lin Xiaofen refused. She explained that she had come specifically to get her eyes fixed so she could take care of An Ran's children. She had already prepared for the risks of the surgery, and no matter how difficult it might be, she would bravely move forward.

When the specialists at the hospital heard that Lin Xiaofen insisted on the surgery, they all expressed admiration for her courage and promised An Ran they would do their utmost to help her.

Lin Xiaofen insisted, and An Ran had no other options but to pray for success.

When Lin Xiaofen heard the voice, she knew it was Anran. She looked toward the door, a smile on her face, and said, "Is that Ranran?"

Anran smiled faintly and nodded. "Yes, Mom, it's me." She walked over to Lin Xiaofen, then took the bowl and spoon from Mrs. Zhang's hand and fed her mouthful by mouthful.

Lin Xiaofen ate with a smile on her face.

"A-choo!" She had caught a cold last night, and upon waking up this morning, she felt a little dizzy and uncomfortable.

Hearing the sound, Lin Xiaofen frowned and asked, "Ranran, are you cold?"

"It's okay, maybe the wind was too cold last night," Anran said with a faint smile, scooping another mouthful of porridge and handing it to Lin Xiaofen.

Lin Xiaofen, feeling a little worried, said, "Ranran, you're pregnant now, and Ah Cheng isn't around. You must be extra careful."

"Yes, I know," Anran replied obediently.

After a moment's thought, Lin Xiaofen said, "This hospital is full of germs. You should stay in the hotel for the next few days. Don't come over here. I'll be fine here with Mrs. Zhang. I'll be fine."

"Mom, I'm really fine. Don't worry," An Ran assured patiently. Leaving her with Mrs. Zhang here wasn't like Jiangcheng. The doctors and nurses were all blond and green-eyed. Without her, daily communication would be a problem.

Lin Xiaofen was still worried, muttering quietly, "Oh, I shouldn't have let you come with me."

After feeding Lin Xiaofen breakfast and handing Mrs. Zhang the bowl and spoon to wash, she went to Lin Xiaofen's attending physician to inquire about her condition.

Just as she emerged from the attending physician's office, her phone rang. It was Su Yicheng. Calculating the time, it should have been around 8 p.m. in Jiangcheng.

She pressed the answer button, but before she could even open her mouth, the person on the other end of the line said, "Let me guess where you are."

An Ran chuckled and said, "Okay, guess where I am right now?"

"In the hospital, right?" Halfway across the world, Su Yicheng's voice was still gentle and pleasant.

An Ran smiled, "Leader Su is so smart, i really can't hide it from you."

Su Yicheng sighed softly on the other end of the line and said, "I also wanted to be wrong for once, to hear you tell me you're still in the hotel." He was just worried that she was too tired, that she would rest well, that she could take good care of herself without him by her side, so that he could rest assured.

"Hehe." An Ran chuckled. She naturally knew what he was thinking, but her mother was still in the hospital bed, so how could she sleep peacefully?

"I, choke—" Just as she was about to say something, her nose suddenly itched, and she sneezed repeatedly. "Choose, choke, choke—"

Hearing this, Su Yicheng on the other end of the line couldn't help but feel a little worried and nervous, and kept asking, "What's wrong? What's wrong? Are you sick?"

Not wanting him to worry, An Ran simply chuckled softly, shook her head, and said, "It's okay, just a cold. Drink more water and I'll be fine."

Su Yicheng was silent for a moment on the other end of the line. "An Ran, I'm not with you. Take care of yourself. Don't make me worry about you."

An Ran nodded. Not wanting him to worry about her, she quickly turned around. He started the conversation, saying, "Did work go well today? Have you had dinner?"

"Yes, I did, and work went well too," Su Yicheng said. "Is Mom's surgery scheduled?"

"Yes, for the day after tomorrow, which is next Monday," An Ran said truthfully. But remembering what the doctor had said earlier, she couldn't help but feel a little worried. She said, a little glumly, "Yicheng, I'm so scared." The closer it got to the surgery, the more terrified she became. She couldn't help but think about what would happen if something went wrong in the operating room, what would happen if the surgery failed. She couldn't bear to imagine the consequences. She admitted that she was weak and couldn't accept any bad news.

"Silly girl, it'll be okay. Don't worry." That was all Su Yicheng could say to comfort her from the other end of the line.

Reaching out to wipe away the tears that had fallen from her face, she smiled brightly, "Yeah, it'll be okay. Mom's so strong, it'll definitely be okay."

"Yeah, it'll be okay!" Su Yicheng said confidently from the other end of the line.

The two chatted for a few more minutes, and so as not to disturb his rest, An Ran urged him to hang up quickly and not work too late that night.

The man who usually would have talked to her for a few more minutes was very obedient today and hung up early.

Touching the still slightly warm phone, An Ran sighed softly and murmured, "If only he were here..." He would definitely give her a hug and comfort her when she felt helpless.

This cold was much more serious than An Ran had imagined. The next morning, she woke up feeling extremely groggy, her nose was blocked, and she was having trouble breathing. Her throat seemed a little swollen, and even talking and drinking water hurt.

She left the hotel for the hospital, feeling a bit dazed. When Mrs. Zhang saw how pale she looked, she was startled. However, because she was pregnant, she wasn't allowed any injections or medications. She was only allowed to drink plenty of water and sleep. Lin Xiaofen was worried that the hospital's germs might infect her, so she insisted she return to the hotel to rest and not come back until she was well again.

An Ran was escorted directly back to the hotel by Mrs. Zhang. Fortunately, the hotel wasn't far from the hospital; it was only a few minutes' walk away, eliminating the need for a taxi. Mrs. Zhang could go back on her own.

An Ran lay on the bed, specifically requesting the hotel bring her a pot of boiling water. Because she was pregnant, she couldn't take any medication or injections, so the only thing she could do was drink plenty of water and sweat more.

After drinking a glass of water, An Ran felt completely exhausted. She wanted to sleep, but she didn't dare, fearing Su Yicheng would call her later and worry if she didn't answer the phone while she was asleep. But today, after waiting for so long, it was almost eleven o'clock, and Su Yicheng still hadn't called. Unable to bear it any longer, she called him directly, only to discover his phone was turned off.

She didn't think much of it, only wondering if his phone had died and he was still busy with work and had forgotten to call. Her head was getting heavier and heavier, and she felt so dizzy that she couldn't stand it anymore. she leaned back on the bed, clutching her phone, and fell asleep.
