Chapter 166: A Happy Ending~Part 1
Early in the morning, after dropping An Ran off at the
hospital, Su Yicheng didn't stay long. He received a call from Secretary Zheng
saying he needed to go back and review some documents, so he rushed straight to
the office.
In the ward, Lin Xiaofen sternly lectured An Ran, finally
unable to hold back her tears.
"Mom," An Ran said, moving forward and sitting on
the edge of the bed. She hugged her mother and whispered apologetically in her
ear, "I'm sorry, I don't you worry about me."
"How can I not worry about you? You're my daughter. If
I don't worry about you, who else can I worry about?"
Su Yicheng was right. Lin Xiaofen didn't want to go abroad
for treatment because she was afraid of problems during the surgery. As she put
it, she wasn't afraid of dying, but of where she would die!
If anything went wrong with the surgery abroad, she'd die in
a foreign country. She didn't want that. She'd rather stay in China. At least
her daughter, her husband, and her family were here. If anything went wrong,
she wouldn't have any regrets.
"Mom, why are you so stubborn?" An Ran was a
little anxious about Lin Xiaofen's insistence. She'd noticed this morning that
her mother's eyesight seemed worse than before. She had to feel her way to
shake her hand. Seeing her mother like this, she felt an indescribable pain in
her heart.
Lin Xiaofen patted her hand, trying to persuade An Ran,
saying, "It doesn't matter where we go for the surgery. Going abroad is
expensive and troublesome. Let's just stay here and have the surgery."
"Mom." An Ran took Lin Xiaofen's hand in hers,
looking at her intently. "We're going abroad because we want to increase
the success rate and reduce the risks. Everyone knows how risky this surgery
is, and we're afraid because we can't accept failure. If you're really not
here, what will Dad and I do?" As she spoke, An Ran couldn't hold back her
tears.
Lin Xiaofen said nothing, turning her head away. Even though
her vision was blurry enough to make her unable to see her daughter's gaze, she
could still feel her gaze on her so strongly that she couldn't meet her gaze.
Her nose felt sore and her eyes felt hot.
"Mom, just think of it as us going to America for me
and Dad, okay?" An Ran said softly, her tone a plea.
Lin Xiaofen didn't turn her head. Her teeth were tightly
biting her lip, trembling slightly. The heat in her eyes was almost scorching.
She reached out and pulled Lin Xiaofen's hand close,
pressing it tightly against her swollen belly. She sobbed, "Mom, my baby's
waiting to come out and call you, Grandma. Promise me you'll be okay,
okay?"
Unable to hold back the tears any longer, Lin Xiaofen
covered her mouth with her hand to stifle her sobs.
"Mom..." An Ran called out stubbornly, tears
already streaming down her face, but she still stubbornly demanded an answer, a
reassurance.
After all, she was her daughter, her own flesh and blood.
How could she truly refuse her request?
Unable to overcome An Ran's reserve, Lin Xiaofen could only
nod in agreement after hearing her voice.
Seeing her agree, An Ran burst into laughter. She reached
out and haphazardly wiped the tears from her own face, then carefully reached
over and gently wiped away the tears from Lin Xiaofen's face.
Everyone was delighted that Lin Xiaofen had finally agreed
to go abroad for surgery. Dr. Zhang had already contacted the hospital in the
United States and had emailed her medical records and other information. All
Lin Xiaofen had to do was pack up and go there in the next few days. Of course,
the hospital would give her a detailed examination upon arrival and then make a
specific surgical plan.
An Ran insisted on accompanying Lin Xiaofen for the
descaling surgery. Gu Hengwen also wanted to be by his wife's side during the
surgery, but since he was teaching the graduating class and their regular
academic schedule was already quite demanding, the school couldn't afford to
grant him a two-week leave, so he had to stay behind to take care of the
students.
However, Lin Xiaofen was the first to object to An Ran
accompanying her to the United States, arguing that An Ran was pregnant and
didn't want her to be overly tired. Although Su Yicheng was worried, he knew An
Ran's feelings. It was her mother who was going into surgery, and she would
definitely not agree if he didn't let her go. Because he loved her, he
supported her decision. He had originally wanted to go with her, but the
Municipal Party Committee had been keeping a tight rein on his work and projects
lately. Furthermore, there had been numerous rumors circulating about him
recently. If he rashly asked for leave now, the outside world would likely
intensify the speculation.
After brewing some health tea in the kitchen, An Ran headed
towards the study, mug in hand. She knocked on the door, but after waiting for
a long time and hearing no response, she pushed it open and entered.
Su Yicheng was inside, his shirt sleeves rolled up to his
elbows, his tie hanging loosely around his neck. His hand, which had been
bandaged with white gauze a few days ago, had been freed, but the wound had
been disinfected, so it didn't interfere with his daily life. He was flipping
through the documents he was holding, which were piled on the desk.
An Ran stepped forward and gently placed the health tea on
the table. Su Yicheng finally came to his senses. He looked up at An Ran and
gave her a faint smile. He raised his hand to check the time. When he saw the
time clearly on his watch, he frowned in disapproval. He reached out and took
her hand, holding it in his palm, and asked, "Why aren't you asleep so
late?"
An Ran let him hold her hand, only smiling faintly and
shaking her head, saying, "I'm not sleepy."
Su Yicheng exerted a little force and pulled her directly
onto his lap, resting his chin on her shoulder and cupping his hand around her
belly.
An Ran relaxed, leaning against his chest. She took hold of
his large hand, which was wrapped around her belly, and played with it. She
looked at the wound on his hand. Although it wasn't wrapped in thick gauze, it
had been carefully treated. She gently touched it with her finger and asked in
a barely audible voice, "Does it still hurt?"
Su Yicheng chuckled, shook his head, and kissed her delicate
ear. "No," he said, his gentle breath wafting into An Ran's ear. An
Ran felt a little itchy, and she shrank back, chuckling and dodging.
"Hehe, stop, it's itchy."
Hearing this, Su Yicheng truly stopped, and simply held her
tighter.
The two of them hugged each other for a long moment before
An Ran slowly said, "Director Zhang told me this afternoon that everything
is ready in the US. Lin Xiaofen needs to leave in the next few days. If we
delay any longer, the location of the brain tumor might change, which would
only make the surgery more difficult. The consequences could be
disastrous."
Su Yicheng said nothing, simply holding her in his arms as
before.
"I'm planning to leave for the US the day after
tomorrow. I'll pack everything I need tomorrow," An Ran finished.
Su Yicheng seemed to sigh softly, his grip tightening around
her. He then asked, "Do you really not want me to go with you?"
Ultimately, he was still worried, concerned about whether she could take good
care of herself without him.
An Ran simply shook her head slightly and said, "No,
you're busy with work." She saw how busy he had been these past few days.
"You're more important." Su Yicheng said it without a second thought,
his tone firm and unwavering.
An Ran pursed her lips, turning to look at the man before
her seriously. Knowing he was simply worried about her, she assured him
earnestly, "I'm not a child. Don't worry about me. I'll take good care of
Mom and myself."
"Really?" Su Yicheng asked, skeptical.
An Ran nodded and replied, "Of course!" Her tone
was serious, and she didn't seem to be lying or pretending.
Su Yicheng looked at her, reached out to touch her face, and
said earnestly, "That's good."
An Ran smiled and nodded, her eyes fixed on him.
His hand caressed her delicate, silky face. Su Yicheng moved
his head down to capture her red lips, gently licking and kissing them, his
tongue probing her lightly. When she parted her lips and began to respond to
his kiss, Su Yicheng began to kiss deeper, seeking more.
Only when An Ran began to feel breathless did Su Yicheng
slowly release her, gently kissing her lips before holding her tightly in his
arms, rubbing his face against hers. After a long moment, he whispered in her
ear, "I'll miss you."
An Ran leaned against his chest, her breath still hazy from
the kiss. Her chest heaved, but a beautiful smile played on her lips. The hand
that had been holding his slender waist slowly moved up to wrap around his
neck. Her head, which had been buried in his chest, lifted up, her wide eyes
looking directly into his. She nodded and said earnestly, "I'll miss you,
too!"
Her voice was soft and gentle, comforting, reaching the
softest part of his heart. Su Yicheng stared at her intently, watching her red
lips gleam with the light of his kiss. The vibrant red burned his eyes, and he
couldn't turn away, only staring greedily.
Her slender fingers slid from his neck, gently tracing the
contours of his face, her fingertips softly tracing his cheeks. She truly would
miss him, a lot. She wondered if she could sleep without his embrace. When they
were married, he had doted on her so much, so much so that she began to wonder
if she was a child, being pampered and cherished like this.
Su Yicheng suddenly grabbed the hand that had been roaming
and igniting his face, opened his mouth, and bit down on her fingertips with a
slightly harsh bite, a hint of punishment.
"Ouch, it hurts..." An Ran let out a soft,
somewhat coquettish cry from the pain in her fingers. The aggrieved look in her
eyes as she looked at him made her look particularly pitiful.
Su Yicheng released her fingers and embraced her, kissing
her lips again. Unlike the gentleness just now, this time his kiss became
impatient, a bit rough and overbearing.
An Ran responded, her lips entwined with his, her hand once
again wrapping around his neck, her fingers digging into his hair.
Su Yicheng's hand, which was holding her back, began to grow
restless.
The ambiguous atmosphere between them rapidly heated up, and
the temperature in the entire study room suddenly rose considerably.
When Su Yicheng's hand lifted An Ran's maternity dress and
reached under her skirt, his fiery hand touching her skin, An Ran finally came
to her senses, her mind slowly returning. She knew all too well what was about
to happen, so while she still had some sense, the moment he released her, she
whispered, "Yi, Yicheng, you, your work..." She didn't want her to
delay her work.
Su Yicheng's kisses slowly moved from his lips down her
smooth neck, leaving red marks wherever he touched. His hand slipped under her
clothes, lingering on her smooth skin.
"Yi, Yicheng..." An Ran whispered, her whole body
aroused to the point of unbearable arousal. She gasped, "You, your
work..." If this continued, she didn't think he would have the sense to
let her go and continue working.
He seemed to ignore her words, kissing her neck, bit by bit,
kissing her, no longer satisfying him.
"Yicheng..." An Ran closed her eyes, her head
tilted upwards. Her entire being felt a burning heat, and she used her last bit
of rationality to grasp his flaming hand.
Su Yicheng then slowly raised his head, staring at her
intently with lustful eyes. He slipped his hand from under her clothes, grasped
her hand that was resting on his chest, and slowly lowered it. As her small
hand grasped the heat, he leaned against her shoulder and groaned.
An Ran's face instantly flushed crimson. Her previously
shaky mind suddenly cleared. She felt the heat on her face was burning, and she
knew exactly what she was holding onto!
Buried in her shoulder, Su Yicheng's deep, hoarse voice
echoed in her ear, "Do you think I can still work like this?" He'd
die if he was forced to work now. He'd really die!
An Ran felt her face grow even hotter. An egg could easily
fry on her face. Embarrassed, she tried to pull her hand away, but he
stubbornly and domineeringly held it down, even beginning to gently massage it.
An Ran had never experienced anything like this before. Her
face flushed red, practically bleeding. She looked at him bewilderedly, her
mind blank. All she could feel was her heart pounding in her chest, as if it
would burst out of her chest at any moment. She was so frightened she couldn't
utter a word.
Su Yicheng groaned twice against her shoulder, then suddenly
lifted her up, pushing the leather against her with his foot and carrying her
out of the study.
By the time An Ran realized what was happening, he had
already carried her back to their bedroom door. Her arms were tightly wrapped
around his neck, her eyes fixed on him.
Su Yicheng slammed into her chest, groaning. With a thud, he
kicked the half-hidden door open, then rushed into the house with the speed of
a gust of wind, carrying An Ran. Just when An Ran thought he would lose his
temper and throw her onto the bed, he bent down and gently and carefully placed
her on the bed, deeply afraid of hurting her.
After a moment of pause, An Ran chuckled softly, a charming
smile playing on her lips. A man like this could still treat her so gently in
this situation. What else could she say?
She raised her hand to wrap around his neck, her eyes fixed
on his. She could almost see herself burning in his eyes. A smile curved her
lips, and she whispered, "Kiss me."
Su Yicheng was stunned for a moment, but he quickly reacted.
The lust in his eyes seemed to burn even more thoroughly. He lowered his head
somewhat awkwardly and kissed her red lips directly. The action was not exactly
gentle.
